mobileLAUNCH UserGuide Version 1.81 Copyright © 2006 rMOBILE URL: http://www.rmobile.ca Support: support@rmobile.ca ============================================================ About: ============================================================ mobileLAUNCH is a launcher application for PalmOS5 devices. You can create up to 10 lists of 10 applications each, and those lists can be popped-up at any time using one of the hardbuttons on your device. Once the list is popped-up you can select which application you want to launch. ============================================================ Using mobileLAUNCH: ============================================================ Once you have set up your launch lists and mapped the action buttons (as described below), using mobileLAUNCH is as simple as tapping on a button to pop-up an application list. Once the list is on-screen, you can select an application to launch by using the 5-way navigator to scroll down in the list and select an application. You can also select an application using your stylus. You can use the 5-way left/right buttons to scroll through the other configured lists of applications. You can use your keypad (on devices so equipped) to enter the first character of the application that you are wanting to launch. By tapping the button sequentially, you can scroll through all applications that begin with that haracter. Simply select the application when you have reached the right one. The list will automatically close after a period of time, but you can close it manually by tapping the screen somewhere other than on an application name, or by pressing one of the application hardbuttons. While the list is displayed, the current time will display at the top-right corner of the pop-up. ============================================================ Installing: ============================================================ Upload "mobileLAUNCH _v###.prc" onto your device. Your device will prompt you to allow it to reset after the hotsync is complete. This is normal to allow mbLAUNCH to start. ============================================================ Enabling: ============================================================ On the main screen of mbLAUNCH there is an "Enable" checkbox at the top-left corner. This is the master control that turns all functions of mbLAUNCH on or off. ============================================================ Main screen: ============================================================ This screen is used to assign applications to each of the 10 avaliable lists. The 10th list allows you to select applications only from your SD card in the "Palm/Launcher" folder. Each list can be renamed using the "Menu>Edit>Rename list" function. When a list is declared to be "on" you will see a listing of the applications that have been assigned to the list. You can manage these applications by using the 4 buttons at the bottom of the screen, to add or delete applications, or to move the existing applications up or down within the list. Also, you can use the "Menu>Edit>Cut/Copy/Paste" commands to shift applications from one list to another. Once an application has been added to one of the lists it no longer shows up as being available when the "add" button is pressed. If you really want to have the same application show up on more than one list then you must use the menu "Copy/Paste" commands to copy an assignment from one list to another. If you cut an application from the 10th (SD) list and paste it to another list (or vice-versa), then the assignment will not work unless the application is found on BOTH the SD card and in RAM. ============================================================ "Button mapping" screen: ============================================================ This screen is accessed from the main screen menu in mobileLAUNCH. Use this screen to define what action mobileLAUNCH should take when specific hardbuttons are pressed or held. Button: ------- The names and number of mappable hardbuttons varies by device, but the available options are similar to below: Treo devices Phone Calendar SMS Power Application (home) Side (some devices) Other devices Calendar (Datebook) Contacts (AddressBook) Tasks (ToDo) Notepad Voice (some devices) For each of the mappable buttons, you declare that mobileLAUNCH should handle the button by enabling the checkbox next to the button name. On: --- Once the button is enabled you must choose if a popup list will be displayed when you "tap" or "hold" the button. "Tap": A simple tap-and-release will cause the list to popup. If you "tap" again, while the list is displayed, the popup list will dissapear and the default application for that button will be launched. "Hold": Holding the button for more than 1/2 second will popup the list. If you "tap" the button instead then the default application for that button will launch. List: ----- You must pick which list will be displayed initially upon popup. You can pick from any of the 10 lists on the main screen. ======================================================== "Preferences" screen: ======================================================== This screen is accessed from the main screen menu in mobileLAUNCH. Use this screen to establish miscellaneous settings for mobilebLAUNCH. "Popup timeout": When a list is popped-up it will remain on-screen only for the amount of time specified. "Test button code": This button is only used to troubleshoot certain devices where the button codes for the various hardware buttons are not previously known. You will not generally need to use this button. ======================================================== "Registration" screen: ======================================================== This screen is accessed from the main screen menu in mobileLAUNCH. mobileLAUNCH will offer a 14-day trial period, during which all features are unlocked. After the 14-day trial has expired you will need to enter a valid reg code in order to keep using mobileLAUNCH. You can obtain a reg code directly from the author, or from a number of on-line vendors. Please visit the rmobile.ca website for further information, or you can send a note to sales@rmobile.ca. If you enter your reg code incorrectly, or if the hotsync name that you supplied when you purchased your reg code was incorrect (the hotsync names are case-specific), then you will see an error message. The error message displays both the detected hotsync name and an error#. Please supply BOTH the detected hotsync name and error# to sales@rmobile.ca in order to receive a replacement reg code. ======================================================== Support: ======================================================== Support documents and upgrades are avaliable at: www.rmobile.ca Personal support for this application is avaliable directly from the author: support@rmobile.ca.
