HS2Utils for Windows Version 0.0.00 -- beta. (c) 2006, rMOBILE www.rmobile.ca Overview================================================================ HS2Utils for Windows is a PC application that allows you to edit your HandyShopper lists on your desktop. The database structures for HandyShopper on PalmOS (HS2) and WinMobile (HS3) are identical, so HS2Utils for Windows should work for the lists from either handheld version of HandyShopper. Do not confuse this application with HS2Utils, which is a PalmOS application that allows you to manipulate HandyShopper lists on your handheld device. HS2Utils for Windows is a standalone application, that does not require Excel (as does HS2Edit) nor HS2Convert.exe. HS2Utils will not work on MacOS, unless it can be run under a PC emulator. General guidelines====================================================== You can run this application from any folder on your PC. I would suggest copying some of your HS lists into a temp location, and using the "Save as..." command to create new lists from them. That way, if you suspect that something is not working right, you can use HandyShopper to check both the old and new versions. Note that upon first running the application you will be presented with a "trial period" message. After the trial period has expired, you will need to purchase a registration code from the author by sending a $5US PayPal payment to 'sales@rmobile.ca'. Further details can be obtained by contacting 'support@rmobile.ca'. Operational notes======================================================= 1. Menu>Options>Preferences allows you to turn on debugging messages. This will not be needed unless you are troubleshooting a specific bug with the developer of HS2UtilsWin. Usually, there will not be any embedded debugging codes in the application, so this setting will have no effect. 2. Menu>Help>Help is not functional at this point. 3. You can edit a text field by simply starting to type, by double-click, or with F2 key. 4. Priority and Category columns have popup selection menus. 5. Tap on button above vertical scroll bar to open store list. Can also be accessed by menu. 6. Cat and Store popup boxes are not labelled. I trust you'll be able to figure out which is which. 7. Columns can be resized. Drag bar to the right of the column label. 8. Data can be sorted ascending or descending. Right-click on column label. "Filter" doesn't work yet. 9. Rows can be cut/paste/inserted. Right click on row label. 10. Lots of legacy HS2Edit functions have yet to be implemented. Custom aisle orders, list merging, etc. 11. No provision has been added yet to manipulate database settings (col widths/visibility, sort orders, etc.) ===============================END======================================
